This compare and Venn Diagram compares and contrast two very significant parts if the Bible. The ten commandments and The Sermon on the Mount- 'The Golden rule.' There are a differences between the two but there are also a few similarities. One main difference that is obvious is that the 'Ten Commandments' were written in the Old Testament, while the 'Sermon on the Mount- The Golden rule' was written in the New Testament.
Another difference was that the Ten Commandments were written in negative (you shall not), while the Sermon on the Mount was spoken in positive. In the Ten Commandments, God showed Moses and the Israelites that he was mean, loud and not-friendly. But when Jesus came down on Earth had spoke on the mount, he explained and taught that God is not what they used to think he was. Jesus explained God to be loving, gentle and caring. There are 3 similarities between these two events. The first is that both events happened on a mountain. This is was a very significant thing in the Bible. Many of the encounters with God were on a mountain. This is because the mountain is higher to the heavens then on the ground and when you are higher up on a mountain, you are closer to God. Another similarity is that they both had something to do with God the father and when these events happened, there was a crowd around Moses and Jesus. |
